Celebrating among family and friends, the Class of 2022 looks to the future

On Friday, May 6, more than 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Public Health and the School of Social Work, representing more than 25 degree programs, received their bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees at the 56th College of Public Health graduation ceremony. Jasmine Dantzler, health professions and physical therapy student, to deliver graduation student address

“Everything has been preparing me for this moment,” says Jasmine Dantzler in the months before graduation, where she’s preparing to deliver the student address. Next week, she’ll graduate with her bachelor of science and complete her first year of the accelerated doctor of physical therapy program, taking the next step in a journey that began long before her time at Temple.   As a high school athlete, she traveled the East Coast running track meets in one of the sport’s most competitive conferences, competing alongside future olympic medalists. But rather than conti...

At graduation, students reminded of lessons learned during life in pandemic

After more than a year of remote and hybrid learning, and with students wearing masks and seated six feet apart, the College of Public Health was finally able to recognize graduating students at an in-person, physically distanced graduation ceremony on May 6 at Geasey Outdoor Field Complex on Temple’s Main Campus.  More than 700 students in the College of Public Health and School of Social Work Class of 2021 were recognized; students who were unable to attend, or felt uncomfortable doing so, were able to submit photographs in order to be recognized in a slideshow of all the...

Class of 2020 honored at online celebration

In a virtual celebration of its Class of 2020, with students distanced to limit the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the College of Public Health honored 790 undergraduate and 386 graduate students for their accomplishments in receiving new degrees. "Instead of gathering in the Liacouras Center surrounded by about 7,000 people, we're scattered around the country and the world watching this together," said Dean Laura A. Siminoff in her opening remarks. In the online video event, Siminoff and other speakers congratulated graduates and stressed the dramatically heightened value o...
