Dr. Fisher is a behavioral nutritionist whose program of research seeks to understand influences on the development of eating behaviors and health outcomes during early childhood. Much of her work focuses on the role of the family as a first and fundamental context in which eating habits develop. Her current research is focused on understanding the development of sweet preferences and snacking behaviors in early childhood and consequences for dietary intake and weight status.

The goals of the Fisher Lab's research are to generate new fundamental knowledge to inform the development of effective family-based approaches for promoting healthy dietary behaviors and preventing obesity among young children as well as to reduce disparities in these outcomes. Dr. Fisher is also associated with the Center for Obesity Research and Education.
