In the Health Policy Research Lab, Dr. Jennifer Ibrahim conducts research at the intersection of public health, law and health services. She is interested in how laws are developed, how laws are implemented and their associated impact on health services utilization and population health. She has worked with colleagues in the Beasley School of Law to advance policy research methods, including policy surveillance in which laws in text are translated and coded into empirical data. In addition, she has focused on the translation of law into practice through public health practitioners—how aware are public health practitioners of laws that govern authority to act and how are those powers used? Previous projects have focused on tobacco control policy at the state and local levels and Medicaid policies.
