The mission of the Phoenix Gender-based Violence Lab is to create a more supportive, healing world for survivors of trauma and abuse by holistically exploring pathways to recovery and exposing, challenging and eliminating the social, cultural and structural underpinnings that promote violence and inhibit healing. In service of this mission, the lab incorporates trauma-informed qualitative (including photography and narrative-based methods), quantitative and mixed methods approaches with sexual assault, intimate partner violence and child abuse populations both domestically and internationally. Students and collaborators who are interested in getting involved are welcome to reach out directly to the director.
