Presentations and Speaking Engagements

Brad Collins and Stephen Lepore presented “Eliminating children's tobacco smoke exposure increases likelihood of maternal smokers' bioverified abstinence” at the Society of Behavioral Medicine Annual Meeting in Phoenix in April; they won an Outstanding Abstract Award at the conference for this presentation.

Collins and Lepore also presented results of secondary analysis of data from their Babies Living Safe and Smokefree trial (recently published in American Journal of Public Health) and “Reducing child tobacco smoke exposure by increasing smoking urge coping skills and protective behaviors in mothers who smoke” at that conference. 

Chantelle Hart co-presented a poster and oral presentation titled "Both sleep duration and timing mediate behavioral treatment effects on child BMIz" at the recent SLEEP meeting in Indianapolis.

In separate sessions in May and June, Mark Salzer offered a two-part webinar “Fundamentals of Community Inclusion” to more than 300 providers associated with Trillium Health Services in North Carolina.

Salzer gave an in-person training “Promoting Community Inclusion for Adults with Mental Health Issues” for Solano County, California's Department of Behavioral Health.

Salzer also participated in the panel “Meaningful community participation: An essential aspect of recovery for persons with serious mental illness” at the Annual Meeting of the American Psychiatric Association in San Francisco in May.

This spring and summer, Salzer will offer a seven-session “Community inclusion mini-series” training for Eastpointe Managed Care providers in North Carolina.

Appointments and Accolades

Associate Professor of Clinical Instruction Beth Heuer will be inducted as a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP) at the AANP National Conference in New Orleans.

Mark Salzer was among 20 researchers selected to serve on a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Recovery Research Technical Expert Panel.

Christopher Wheldon was featured in St. Jude Comprehensive Cancer Center Newsletter: Promoting Pride in HPV Vaccination Among LGBTQIA+ Communities.

Yaara Zisman-Ilani has been named a reviewer for the NIH/NIMH Mental Health Services Research Committee and an editorial board member of BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making.
