
Beth Heuer
Biography
Beth Heuer is a pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP), pediatric primary care mental health specialist (PMHS), and the current secretary on the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) Executive Board. She earned her BSN and MSN degrees at the University of Pittsburgh and her DNP at Robert Morris University. She has 33 years of pediatric nursing experience and has been a PNP for 19 years. Her professional experience includes work in pediatric oncology/bone marrow transplantation, neurology, developmental/behavioral medicine, chronic pain management, neurodevelopment in rare disorders, and mitochondrial medicine.
Dr. Heuer has presented expert lectures on the local, regional and national level on topics including lysosomal storage disorders, neurofibromatosis, Tourette syndrome, sensory processing difficulty, autism, disruptive behavior disorders, and mitochondrial disease. Working with the NAPNAP Professional Issues Committee and the Association of Faculties of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, she helped to develop an intensive preceptor workshop for NAPNAP, and co-wrote and co-edited the 'Acute, Specialty and Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Preceptor Toolkit.' She has published in peer-reviewed journals and consumer publications, and has co-written a number of NAPNAP Position Statements. She was a chapter contributor for the book Behavioral Pediatric Healthcare for Nurse Practitioners and has co-written several other nursing textbook chapters. She has been a preceptor throughout her career and has served as both an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and a part-time assistant professor at the Robert Morris University School of Nursing.
