Temple University’s Master of Science in Recreational Therapy program prepares you to use recreational and leisure activities to improve the health and well-being of people with disabilities.

You'll learn to assess patients' needs, create and implement evidence-based interventions, and evaluate treatment outcomes.

Our graduates serve in practice-based clinical or management roles as professional recreational therapists in a wide range of settings like hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, assisted living facilities, community settings that provide specialized services to individuals with disabilities and more.

Our flexible 36-credit program is offered entirely online with a combination of synchronous meetings and asynchronous coursework. Earn your degree at a pace that’s right for you—part-time and full-time options are available, and you can complete the program as little as two years.
