Dr. Butcher has her MEd and PhD in sport and exercise psychology from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. She is an assistant professor of instruction and is involved in writing intensive (WI) courses. Dr. Butcher acts as faculty advisor to the Temple Pre-Physical Therapy Association and is actively involved in working with the Pre-Professional Health Studies office providing workshops on personal statements and providing one-on-one assistance to students writing their personal statements for professional school, as well as acting as interviewer for Health Scholars Day. Dr. Butcher is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) and a former member of the United States Olympic Committee's Sport Psychology Registry. She has worked with individual coaches as well as entire coaching staffs, and athletes of all ages and skill levels, individually and in teams. Recently, she her consulting has expanded her performance enhancement practice to include a variety of genres, including classical music (orchestral and vocal), rock (band, solo instrumental, and vocal), and dancers (ballet, tap, modern, and jazz). Dr. Butcher is also a workshop presenter and speaker at national and international conferences for sport psychology as well as health care; and has been part of two grant programs to help obese children in disadvantaged neighborhoods.
