The Nursing Department is proud to offer the following internal (Temple University sponsored) and external scholarships:
Internal Nursing Scholarships
Class of 1963 Scholarship Award
Established by Eva Whitsel Pierce, Class of 1963, to provide tuition support for students enrolled in the BSN program. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, a personal determination and dedication to the profession, and have been actively involved in volunteer activities.
Independence Blue Cross Foundation Scholarship
Current students are eligible to apply for a scholarship if they are in good academic standing and reside in one of the following counties: (1) Pennsylvania: Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties; (2) New Jersey: Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Mercer, and Salem counties; and (3) Delaware: New Castle County. Funds are for the next academic year.
Lisa Herman Peskoe Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 1996 by the family and friends of Lisa Herman Peskoe to provide scholarships for undergraduate nursing students who demonstrate financial need and scholastic excellence. Awards vary each year.
J. Russell Fawley Fund
Established in 2007 by the J. Russell Fawley Trust to provide scholarships to nursing students who demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need. Preference is given to students who are permanent residents of Roxborough, Manayunk, and East Falls areas of Philadelphia. If there are no students from these areas, then preference is given to students with permanent residence in these locations: Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware & Montgomery counties.
Nan Angevine Apfelbaum Scholarship in Nursing
Established in 2013 for undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need. First preference is given graduates of a Philadelphia School District High School. Second preference is given to students who graduated from a high school in southeastern Pennsylvania.
Nurses Alumna Scholarship Fund (Jacob Dunlap)
Established in 2003 by the Nurses Alumna Association. Provides funds for students in BSN program who show academic achievement and a commitment to nursing. Awards are $1000.
External Nursing Scholarships
Pennsylvania State Nurses Association
The Nursing Foundation of Pennsylvania, the foundation of the PA State Nurses Association, offers the Pauline Thompson Educational Scholarship which provides $1000 for students in RN-BSN programs. Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania
Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania grants scholarships annually to Pennsylvania residents who are studying nursing at the basic or advanced level and intend to practice in the state. Regardless of the type of nursing program, all candidates accepted into or presently enrolled in accredited nursing programs in Pennsylvania may apply.
