As part of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics Seminar Series, Drs. Graciela Jaschek, Inkyu Han, and Kirsten Wiens will present an overview of their recent trip to Peru to initiate research and training projects with government, university, and community partners in the Cusco region.

This seminar will introduce the concept of the Epidemiology and Biostatistics Department Public Health Beyond Borders (PHBB) Global Reach Initiative. Dr. Jaschek will discuss how the PHBB Initiative was developed to involve students and faculty in global community projects. Drs. Han and Wiens will talk about their effort in this global collaborative in Peru and their vision for future research projects. Specifically, Dr. Han will discuss projects focused on outdoor air pollution, and Dr. Wiens will discuss projects focused on surveillance of respiratory infections in hard-to-reach communities.

The seminar will conclude with a summary of next steps and opportunities for faculty and students to get involved.
