Physical appearance concerns are very common and can lead to a range of serious mental health issues like eating disorders. Dr. Gemma Sharp's research focuses on preventing and intervening in the development of physical appearance concerns. She led the team that developed the world's first positive body image AI conversational agent or "chatbot." This presentation will discuss the development and evaluation of this chatbot.

Dr. Gemma Sharp is a senior research fellow and clinical psychologist at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. She leads the Body Image Research Group at Monash where they focus on understanding the causes of and developing novel treatments for body image related disorders such as eating disorders. A winner of 48 researcher awards, Dr. Sharp has received extensive coverage on mainstream media and makes regular appearances on television. Dr. Sharp also leads a private psychology practice where she specializes in the treatment of eating disorders.
