Associate Professor in the School of Social Work Marsha Zibalese-Crawford and alumni Silvana Mazzella and José Benitez were mentioned in a Temple Now story on the ways the university is taking part in the fight against opioids.

Zibalese-Crawford is part of the Mayor’s Task Force to Combat the Opioid Epidemic alongside physicians from Temple University Hospital and faculty members from Beasley School of Law and the College of Liberal Arts, among others.

Benitez and Mazzella serve as executive director and associate executive director, respectively, of Prevention Point Philadelphia, a public health and social service organization that began as a syringe exchange in 1992.

The work of Zibalese-Crawford, Benitez and Mazzella was previously covered in the College of Public Health’s 2017 Year in Review as part of a story exploring the college’s multifaceted approach to the epidemic.
