Biography

Susan Gresko is an assistant professor of instruction in the Department of Nursing. She teaches in both the undergraduate and the graduate programs. She is committed to preparing nurses and nurse practitioners by providing community-based experiences with a focus on evidence-based practice.

Susan completed her master’s degree in nursing in the primary care pediatric nurse practitioner program at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a board-certified primary care pediatric nurse practitioner and has maintained a clinical practice for over 30 years. Susan is a childcare health consultant and has provided technical assistance and professional development to early learning staff for health and safety topics.

She serves on several committees at Temple including the Interprofessional Education Committee (IPE). IPE promotes interprofessional learning and teamwork across the health science programs. Students demonstrate the ability to engage in an interprofessional team to enhance safe and effective patient care while maintaining mutual respect, dignity, diversity, ethical integrity and trust. They use knowledge of their own role and understanding of the roles of other health professionals to address the healthcare needs of the patients and populations served. They communicate effectively with other health professionals in a responsive and responsible manner through workshop and simulation experiences.

Her experiences have included working in and coordinating nurse-managed health centers which provided health care services to vulnerable populations. Susan precepts nurse practitioner students in her clinical practice.

Susan has worked at both the local and national levels as president of the Pennsylvania Delaware Valley Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) to promote the work of nurse practitioners and improve health outcomes for children.

She is currently president of the Kappa Chi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International.
