Biography

Dr. Elizabeth Tenison is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in medical dietetics and a master’s degree in clinical nutrition. Dr. Tenison holds a PhD in health sciences from Northern Illinois University. She is a registered dietitian with over 25 years of experience in pediatric and neonatal critical care, renal, neurological impairment, and high-risk maternal nutrition. Dr. Tenison worked in pediatric medical centers in Ohio, Michigan, and Minnesota.

Dr. Tenison won Preceptor of the Year at Michigan Medicine (2012) and Outstanding Dietitian of the Year through the Connecticut Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (2016).

Dr. Tenison has over 10 years of experience in dietetic education. She has worked in academia as a professor and program director. She has directed two ACEND (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics) accredited programs. Firstly, the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, Connecticut, and later at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. She taught classes in Medical Nutrition Therapy, Advanced Nutrition Assessment, Advanced Medical Nutrition Therapy, Food Management, Nutrition Education and Counseling and Basic Nutrition.

Dr. Tenison is on the Board of Directors for Meals on Wheels in Salem County, New Jersey, and serves as a consultant dietitian for Meals on Wheels. In addition, she serves on the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior, Inaugural SNEB Competency Certificate Work Group and volunteers as an abstract review for the society. She is a certified wellness program coordinator through the Chapman Institute (2021), a certified Doula (2021), and a certified Servsafe Instructor and Proctor. (2020).

Dr. Tenison is the program director for the MPH in nutrition at Temple and teaches Nutritional Biochemistry, Medical Nutrition Therapy, Nutrition and Health, Nutrition through the Lifecycle, and Nutrition Education and Counseling in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
