Biography

Cathy A. Flite, PhD, FAHIMA, RHIA, is an associate professor of instruction in the Department of Health Services Administration and Policy at Temple University. She teaches in both the bachelor of science in health information management (BSHIM) and master of science in health informatics (MSHI) programs in the following areas: health information management (HIM) leadership, operations management, reimbursement methodologies and health data standards.

Dr. Flite actively participates in HIM leadership roles at both national, state and local levels. Recently, she served the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) in numerous capacities, including leadership positions for the Certification Commission for Health Informatics & Information Management (CCHIIM). In addition, she has served on AHIMA’s five Council for Excellence in Education (CEE) workgroups, the Foundation Research Network (AFRN), and on the Educational Strategy Committee (CEE predecessor). Dr. Flite is a past recipient of the Pennsylvania Health Information Management Association’s (PHIMA) Distinguished Member Award and has been inducted into AHIMA’s Fellows program (FAHIMA).
