The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics strives to enhance population health through rigorous research and effective training of the next generation of public health scholars and professionals. In our department, we combine curiosity with rigorous, applied methods that lead us to compelling questions and impactful results to improve public health.

We live and work in Philadelphia, a microcosm of the world—a place to explore and answer questions that improve the public’s health in our community and around the world.

WE PREPARE GRADUATES WITH THE ANALYTICAL, RESEARCH, AND QUANTITATIVE SKILLS NEEDED TO UNDERSTAND PATTERNS OF HEALTH AND DISEASE, TURN COMPLEX DATA INTO MEANINGFUL INSIGHTS, AND INFORM THE DECISIONS THAT IMPROVE POPULATION HEALTH. THROUGH RIGOROUS TRAINING IN EPIDEMIOLOGY, BIOSTATISTICS, RESEARCH METHODS, AND DATA-DRIVEN PROBLEM SOLVING, OUR GRADUATES ARE PREPARED TO ADVANCE PUBLIC HEALTH THROUGH RESEARCH, POLICY, HEALTHCARE, AND PRACTICE. THAT’S WHY OUR GRADUATES GO ON TO WORK AT...
