Convocation is a formal ceremony that celebrates the arrival of the new class and serves as a symbolic beginning of the academic journey. It is attended by all new undergraduate students and incoming transfer students and is a key part of Temple’s “Weeks of Welcome.”

Arrive early to pick up your 2026 Barnett Convocation T-shirt, a healthy morning snack and other BCPH goodies.  Please plan to wear your new Barnett Convocation T-shirt for the remainder of the day.

New Barnett College of Public Health and School of Social Work students will have the exciting opportunity to meet Dean Jenn and connect with the faculty and staff who will support their journey—including advisors, program directors, department chairs, and program faculty. Come get connected, ask questions, and meet the people who are here to help you thrive!

Following the Dean’s welcome, all incoming students along with all staff and faculty in attendance will take our annual Temple T photo on the turf.  Look for the photo in this year’s Public Health Magazine!  

Students will then join their program staff and faculty for quick breakout sessions on the Turf or in one of the STAR Classrooms.  Breakout session locations will be posted at the Turf entry.

University leaders will welcome first-year and new  transfer students in one of Temple’s honored traditions. Barnett students will process to The Liacouras Center at 10:40am, led by our marshals, Shiv Hiremath and Kyle Harris, as they carry the Barnett College of Public Health and School of Social Work flags and lead the way.

A Pep Rally will immediately follow the New Student Convocation Ceremony.

The Resource Fair takes place alongside Temple Fest, happening across Main Campus from 1:00–5:00 p.m. Come celebrate, connect, and make the most of this exciting day on campus!
