About the North Broad Physical Therapy Center

Founded in October 2015 and officially opened in January 2016, the North Broad Physical Therapy Center is a student-run and faculty-advised pro bono physical therapy clinic located at Temple University’s Health Sciences Center in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Several years in the making, it was an initiative started by Temple’s doctor of physical therapy (DPT) students and faculty. It is a collaboration of the university, the College of Public Health, the physical therapy program, and people who believe in serving the Philadelphia community.

Temple’s DPT students and licensed physical therapists from the community evaluate and treat clients of any age with muscle, bone, joint, balance or neurological dysfunctions. They dedicate themselves to educating and providing quality care to the North Philadelphia community and empowering fellow neighbors in the community to lead healthier lives. We are proud to be able to offer free services to our patients, and since our inception we have saved patients and insurers over $150,000.

Our board is entirely student-run and consists of members of all three Temple DPT classes, filling roles in clinic coordination, funds, outcomes, client advocacy, clinical mentoring and alumni relations, marketing and communications, community outreach, student relations, and operations. Board members from each incoming class are selected by their peers every fall via an application process, ensuring a smooth transition from year to year.

The North Broad Physical Therapy Center is guided by the American Physical Therapy Association's Code of Ethics and the core values of accountability, altruism, compassion/caring, excellence, integrity, professional duty and social responsibility.
