The North Broad Physical Therapy Center is in need of physical therapists to serve as clinical mentors. As a clinical mentor, you would oversee the treatment that student physical therapists provide for patients, consult with students regarding appropriate treatments for patients, and aid students with documentation.
We schedule clients within two-hour windows with the expectation that the students treating that night, as well as our clinical mentor, will arrive 30 minutes prior to make a plan and stay 30 minutes after the last patient leaves to aid and sign off on documentation.
The clinical mentor’s primary responsibility is to oversee the student physical therapists' planning, evaluating and treatment of clients. The clinical mentor is also responsible for supervising the creation and maintenance of documentation and must co-sign all documentation with the student physical therapists. Mentors provide direction and support to student physical therapists in regard to client care in accordance with the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Practice Act and APTA Code of Ethics.
- Parking passes to several Temple University-owned lots within a three-minute walk to our location in Jones Hall
- Reimbursement for the required part-time personal liability insurance (such as HPSO) is offered to clinical mentors who agree to a minimum of eight shifts within a calendar year. Proof of personal liability insurance is required to begin as a clinical mentor and proof of purchase is required for reimbursement.
- Clinic Mentor and Clinical Instructor Appreciation Day, an annual “thank you” event for CMs and CIs who donate their time to promoting student education. Each year, typically a Saturday in mid-September, Temple Physical Therapy faculty host an ethical course (2 CEUs) as well as an inpatient- and outpatient-themed session (2 CEUs for either session). This day is worth a total of 4 CEUs.
- In order for a NBPTC clinical mentor to be invited, the mentor must attend at least eight shifts throughout the year prior to the event they wish to attend. The academic year includes any winter or summer shifts.
Our hours change every semester based on our students’ class schedules and your availability. For questions related to scheduling, email us at [click-for-email].
We welcome inquiries and applications from currently licensed physical therapists. Please submit an application to provide us with your availability and submit required documents.
