Presentations and Speaking Engagements
Deirdre Dingman served as a panelist in a discussion following the College of Public Health's screening of Our American Family, a documentary film exploring generational addiction.
Yaara Zisman-Ilani was a panelist for the PCORI Advisory Panel at the Clinical Effectiveness and Decision Science (CEDS) Annual Meeting.
Christopher Wheldon presented his research focused on LGBT health disparities at the International Anal Neoplasia Society and the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality.
At the Council of Social Work Education's Annual Meeting, Cheryl Hyde organized and facilitated an open forum entitled "Mobilizing Against Attacks on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Support for Marginalized Educators and Student" and co-presented two workshops: "Anti-Racist Tough-Love: Critical Pedagogy to Prepare Students for Social Work’s Inequities" with Steve Burghardt (Hunter College) and "Promoting Macro Opportunities in Generalist and Advanced Generalist Social Work Programs" with Shane Brady (Western Michigan University).
Hyde also presented at the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities (CUMA) Annual Conference with Shirley Moy (Temple Lenfest Center) on "The Rocky Road to Community, City, and University Partnerships."
Beth Heuer presented at the Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners conference on November 4 in Lancaster, PA, on the topic "It’s not about the destination: Reshaping your APRN journey.” Heuer also presented a live national webinar for the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board on October 19 entitled “Power up your PNP precepting: Tactics to sharpen your skills.”
Appointments and Accolades
Philip McCallion was appointed to the inaugural group of mentors for the Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) Innovation Incubator, a mentor program designed to assist SSWR members in further developing a research idea, strengthening the capacity for external funding, and building their research networks.
Elizabeth Heller Murray received the Award for Early Career Contributions in Research at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Convention in November.
Yaara Zisman-Ilani served as a mentor for the Society for Medical Decision Making (SMDM) One-to-One Mentoring Program at the society's 45th Annual Meeting.
Jay Fagan received the Rev. Dr. W. Wilson Goode, Sr., Award for Outstanding Research and Practice from the Pennsylvania Strong Families Commission.
Valarie Clemmons received an honorable mention for the Outstanding Practice Educator Award from the Association for Community Organization & Social Action.
Beth Heuer was named as a department editor (Primary Care Case Studies) at the Journal of Pediatric Health Care.
Other activities
Philip McCallion, along with Mary McCarron and Margaret Haigh, edited a report launched at Trinity College Dublin by the Minister for Disability in Ireland, Anne Rabbitte. The report is entitled "Longitudinal Dynamics in the Ageing of People with an Intellectual Disability: Evidence from the Intellectual Disability Supplement to the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (IDS-TILDA)."
