Biography

Dr. Krista Schroeder (she/her) is a tenured Associate Professor of Nursing at Temple University College of Public Health and a Burn ICU nurse at Temple University Hospital. Her career is dedicated to advancing health equity via trauma-informed, healing-centered nursing care.

She completed a PhD and NIH-funded predoctoral fellowship at Columbia University, followed by an NIH-funded T32 postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. Earlier in her career, she led a program of externally funded research examining how adversity, social conditions, and healthcare experiences shape health and health equity across the lifespan.

Today, she focuses on translating that evidence into real-world impact through equity-focused nursing education and sustained clinical practice in a safety-net hospital. Complementing her scholarly work, Dr. Schroeder has more than a decade of critical care experience across burn, trauma, medical, surgical, cardiac, and neurosciences intensive care units at Level I trauma centers serving urban communities.

Through her role as both educator and clinician, she prepares future nurses to deliver evidence-based, compassionate care and equips them to address the social, structural, and clinical factors that shape health, healing, and well-being.
