The Wiens Lab (infectious diseases) utilizes seroepidemiology, spatial analysis and disease modeling to better understand infectious disease burden. Current funded projects focus on two main areas:
- Understanding of the role of mild and asymptomatic infections in cholera transmission
- Estimating the number of cholera and diarrheal cases that remain unreported in passive surveillance systems due to barriers to healthcare seeking
