Dear College of Public Health Alumni,
This year has been one full of milestones for the College of Public Health, and I would like to share another piece of exciting news.
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Larry I. Rubin, CPH ’85, as president of the Temple University College of Public Health Alumni Association (CPHAA) for a two-year term. Larry graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education. While he was a student, he founded and served as first president of the Wellness Center at Temple University’s Ambler Campus. Since graduating, Larry has remained an active alumnus, volunteering at key events as well as serving in an advisory role for Temple’s Office of Alumni Relations.
Larry brings with him more than 30 years of nonprofit leadership experience. Since 2008, he has served as Chief Executive Officer for the Association for Adults with Developmental Disabilities (AADD), a social services organization that helps its members live full and independent lives within their communities. Under Larry’s leadership, the organization has achieved sustained annual membership growth of 10% and exceeded national averages in employment outcomes for its members. Prior to his work at AADD, Larry served in a variety of leadership positions for the American Red Cross, including director of HR and volunteer support services, senior manager of volunteer support services and district manager.
Larry is committed to providing leadership and guidance to the CPHAA, and to creating a meaningful partnership between the College of Public Health and its alumni. In his first year as board president, Larry will be charged with building a highly-engaged alumni board and an active alumni advisory committee.
You will hear from Larry in the near future about his vision for the alumni association and his many plans for the coming year. I am confident that Larry will serve the College’s 35,000+ alumni well.
Laura A. Siminoff, Ph.D.
