Temple University’s College of Public Health proudly announces that Dr. Resa M. Jones, Chair of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, has been appointed to the American Public Health Association (APHA) Awards Committee.
This national committee is composed of esteemed public health professionals recognized for their expertise and wide-ranging contributions to the field. Members are entrusted with selecting recipients for APHA’s most prestigious honors, including the Sedgwick Memorial Medal and the Helen Rodriguez-Trías Social Justice Award. Their role is pivotal in highlighting individuals and organizations whose work has shaped the public health landscape.
“Dr. Jones exemplifies the spirit of public health—leading with purpose, compassion, and a clear commitment to improving lives,” said Jennifer Ibrahim, PhD, MPH, Interim Dean of the College of Public Health. “Her appointment to the APHA Awards Committee is not only a reflection of her professional accomplishments, but also of the values we uphold here at Temple.”
The APHA Awards recognize transformative contributions to public health. Nominations for this year’s awards are open through May 23, 2025, with selections taking place over the summer. Honorees will be announced this fall, ahead of the APHA Annual Meeting.
