Jamie Mansell, associate dean for undergraduate studies, will become president of the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers’ Society (PATS) in June. PATS works to promote athletic trainers as leaders in healthcare and population health across the commonwealth, and Mansell is eager to continue those efforts.
“It’s a great honor to be able to lead this important organization,” she said. Mansell, Temple’s graduate program director for athletic training, was elected to the presidency of PATS by its members in June 2022 and has been preparing since then in the role of President-Elect. She spent the past two years collaborating with the society’s convention committee to create programming for the annual convention in June and working on state legislative matters.
“During my tenure as president, I hope to bridge the relationships between students and licensed athletic trainers, through increased networking and continuing education opportunities,“ Mansell said. “I’d also love to explore interprofessional opportunities for athletic trainers,” she said, noting that Jazmine Tooles, also from the College of Public Health’s Health and Rehabilitation Sciences Department, is president-elect of the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association. (Kyle Harris, assistant professor of instruction in the Department of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, has become the next president-elect at PATS).
PATS recognized Mansell in 2023 with its Outstanding Educator Award, for outstanding contributions to athletic training education and academic excellence. She was also recognized by the National Athletic Trainers' Association with their Service Award (2022), Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award (2024) and the Sayers "Bud" Miller for Distinguished Teaching (2024).
