Nationwide, 81% of women and 43% of men report experiencing some form of sexual harassment and/or assault in their lifetime. Healing after these experiences is not a linear process, but what can we learn through the voices of those who are recovering?

Dr. Laura Sinko, a sexual assault nurse examiner and assistant professor with research expertise on trauma recovery, will debut her online photography exhibit and short film about healing after campus sexual assault titled “Finding The Strength to Heal” on Oct. 27 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. A discussion will follow—attendees can submit questions about healing and survivorship for Dr. Sinko and represenatives from Temple's Wellness Resource Center. Virtual support staff will be available at this event, and local and national resources will be provided.

We hope we can join together as a Temple community to build awareness of this important public health issue, cultivate hope that healing is possible in time, and help us all understand how we can create a more supportive healing environment for survivors of trauma, violence and abuse.
