Biography

Shawn Frapp, PhD, RN, CCRN-K, joins the faculty of Temple with more than two decades of clinical experience in Critical Care, Nursing Administration, and Reproductive Health. As an Assistant Professor of Nursing, Dr. Frapp hopes to explore behavioral motivation in emerging young adult men with intersecting minority identifications. His research intends to bridge the gaps between race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, and socioeconomic status as motivators for behaviors that impact health outcomes throughout the life trajectory.

Dr. Frapp’s clinical experience in critical care and reproductive health makes him a passionate educator who hopes to instill a sense of wonder in his students. His expertise allows him the privilege to take clinically challenging concepts and make them understandable for students. His philosophy of service to the patient as a human first, reflects the intersection of his research and clinical practice. He is a firm believer in developing the next generation of nursing clinicians, leaders, and scientists to influence care delivery for the future. As such, Dr. Frapp currently serves as the Post-Master's DNP Track Coordinator and finds that mentoring doctoral students through implementation science yields an exciting return on investment for the profession.

As an emerging nurse scientist, Dr. Frapp has presented locally, regionally, nationally and internationally on topics related to his research and developing research program. He is certified in Adult Critical Care by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and an active member of Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society of Nursing. Dr. Frapp is also the faculty mentor for the Temple University Men in Nursing developing chapter.
