Human Relations Award

The Human Relations Award is presented by the faculty and senior class to a graduating senior who has demonstrated a special ability in the area of interpersonal relationships—a skill of particular importance in management, requiring perspective, humor, sensitivity and the talent for positive interaction with peers, faculty, staff and clinical internship personnel.

Leadership Award

The Leadership Award is presented to a graduate student for leading project groups, mentoring peers or taking a lead role in civic projects outside the classroom. The award recognizes demonstrated dedication and leadership throughout the recipient's academic career and acknowledges the lead they have taken, by recognized title or not, in their overall peer-academic involvement.

Social Justice and Advocacy in Data Award

The Social Justice and Advocacy in Data Award is presented to a graduate student who has contributed to socially just data initiatives such as ethical AI, ethics in data surveillance, etc. The award recognizes the ability to apply public health knowledge and skills to address a significant public health issue, identify resources and overcome obstacles in the course of the work. The recipient has demonstrated a body of work contributing to advocacy for public health and social justice.

Academic Achievement Award

The Academic Achievement Award is presented to the graduating MPH in Health Policy and Management student who has demonstrated academic excellence through attainment of the highest grade point average among the graduating cohort.

Innovation and Leadership Award

The Innovation and Leadership Award is given to a graduating MPH in Health Policy and Management student who has developed the most innovative fieldwork or research project during their time in the program. Recipients of this award foster an atmosphere of collaboration and creativity, which generates valuable ideas for developing new or improved processes, methods, systems, programs, services or knowledge.

Community Service and Activism Award

The Community Service and Activism Award recognizes a graduating MPH in Health Policy and Management student who has worked to improve the lives of others through extracurricular service activities outside the classroom. Recipients have demonstrated exceptional service to the College of Public Health and/or the broader community through participation in social organizations, community groups or charitable organizations. Their work extends beyond the classroom to help others and improve society while demonstrating a high degree of excellence, professionalism and integrity.

Excellence in Teaching Award

The Department of Health Services Administration and Policy (HSAP) Excellence in Teaching Award is presented annually to a faculty member who has enriched the pedagogical experience for HSAP undergraduate and graduate students. In choosing a recipient, the HSAP Awards Committee considers commitment to student learning, vigorous student engagement, creating a culture of creativity, risk-taking and innovation in the classroom, teaching in the core, providing substantive feedback to students, skill building, career preparation, and any other aspect of educational quality and excellence.
