Biography

Dr. Susannah Anderson is an associate professor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences in the College of Public Health at Temple University. She holds a PhD in community health and behavioral sciences from Tulane University and an MPH from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a former research fellow at The Policy & Research Group in New Orleans, LA, which conducts evaluation research to inform policymakers and public health and medical professionals. There, she oversaw evaluations of programs for persons living with HIV, as well as other education programs. In New Orleans, she taught undergraduate public health courses at Tulane University and at Bard Early College New Orleans.

Her research addresses opportunities to foster youth engagement in education along with identifying policy changes for improving education and healthcare. As part of her dissertation, she worked to evaluate youth engagement programs in New Orleans and Chicago. As a Research Fellow, her evaluation projects included linkage to care programs for persons with HIV in Louisiana, a STEM program for fifth graders in Virginia, and a dropout prevention program in North Carolina. Additional research interests include cultural competency in health education programs, LGBTQ health, and health impacts of public policy.
