As an undergraduate sociology student studying abroad in Thailand, Deborah Moss-Gail encountered a woman from a minority group whose access to healthcare was limited by location, poverty and prejudice. Inspired by this experience Deborah pursued nursing and obtained her BSN and MSN degrees from Thomas Jefferson University. She has served as a family nurse practitioner in various settings for more than 10 years, as far away as a remote region of South Sudan and as close as a bilingual federally-qualified health center in North Philadelphia.
Building on her commitment to increasing access of care in underserved areas, Deborah joined Temple University's Department of Nursing with the goal of preparing the next generation of nurse practitioners to provide accessible, quality primary care, particularly in communities that have barriers to care. Deborah has also developed an interest in shaping the use of electronic health record technologies to provide better experiences for both clinicians and patients.
