Barbara Little is a registered nurse with over 30 years of clinical and educational experience in the field of neonatology, and her focus has always been directed toward the role of the educator. She feels this is one of the most important roles as a nurse, and she feels comfortable and accomplished when placed in this position with staff, patients and family members. From working as a NICU nurse, Barbara has learned that establishing a foundation of trust developed through learning a family's background and community setting is the most important attribute of care and management.
As a mentor, preceptor, patient advocate, NRP instructor and, most recently, a clinical adjunct professor for the Temple University College of Public Health Nursing Department, Barbara's goal is to enhance the nursing student's knowledge base through enriching clinical site experiences that will provide an overview of future patients' communities and lifestyles. This provides a concrete foundation in understanding the challenges and obstacles one faces living in their community, so the student can address the appropriate resources and direct care to this population.
