Dr. Butcher-Poffley has her M.Ed. and PhD. in sport and exercise psychology from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA where she is currently an assistant professor in the Kinesiology Department. She is a Certified Performance Enhancement Consultant through the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (CC-AASP), and a member of the United States Olympic Committee's Sport Psychology Registry. 
Her performance enhancement consulting practice includes work with musicians (classical orchestra/rock band/solo), singers (opera to rock), and dancers. As a sport psychology consultant, she has worked with coaches and their staffs, and athletes of all ages and skill levels, individually and in teams. Clients include Olympic, NCAA Division I and Division III, and USGF nationally ranked athletes. Dr. B has also worked extensively in gymnastics as both psychological skills trainer and dance coach. She has been a workshop presenter and speaker at national and international conferences for sport psychology and health care; and has also been part of two grant programs to help obese children in disadvantaged neighborhoods.
