Dr. Jane McDevitt completed her PhD in Kinesiology at Temple University, where she also completed a Master of Science in Kinesiology. She earned a BS in Athletic Training at East Stroudsburg University. Her dissertation was entitled “N-Methyl-D-Aspartic Acid Receptor Submit NR2A Repeat Polymorphism and Sport Concussion.” Dr. McDevitt has published 12 articles had made 20 presentation at regional, national and international conferences.
Since 2015, Dr. McDevitt has been an assistant professor at East Stroudsburg University, where she taught Anatomy and Physiology as well as Athletic Training Courses. She also taught as an adjunct faculty at Alvernia University in the Department of Occupational Therapy. Dr. McDevitt is also a regular contributor to the Sports Medicine Research Blog, serves as a member of the free communication committee for the Eastern Athletic Training Association and is a reviewer for 7 different sports medicine journals.
Dr. McDevitt joins the Department of Kinesiology, where she will contribute to the growth of our master’s and doctoral programs in athletic training and teach anatomy and physiology. She will also continue to pursue her research investigating genetic association to concussions. Additionally, in her new line of research she will be designing a concussion specific outcome measure to identify the patient’s prospective as they recover from his/her concussion.
