CHPSW 2014 Graduation

On Thursday, May 15, 2014 Temple University's College of Public Health officially celebrated the graduation of the class of 2014. Over 5,000 guests filled the Liacouras Center to celebrate the near 1,500 graduates of the College. 

Associate Dean of Faculty and Academic Affairs, Dr. Kathy Coyle began the proceedings by welcoming the assembled body to the celebration. "Your commitment, hard work and determination has brought you to this point and now it is time for all assembled to applaud your efforts," Coyle told the graduates. "So to each of you I say congratulations! Enjoy this moment. You're Temple Made."

"Today, we recognize you as colleagues," Dr. Siminoff said. "You take your place in a dynamic field that is redefining systems of care, making scientific breakthroughs and developing approaches to promote positive health outcomes to advocate for social change." 

Special guest speaker, Congressman Glenn Thompson, U.S. Representative of the 5th District of Pennsylvania, and a CPH graduate, then addressed the audience. Congressman Thompson implored graduates to meet the changing world and healthcare marketplace with enthusiasm.

Temple University College of Public Health Graduate 2014Dean Siminoff also awarded the second annual College of Health Professions and Social Work Dean’s Citation Award to the Supervisory Advisory Committee of CPH's Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. "They have worked tirelessly to advance the clinical and academic education of graduate students in our Master of Arts in the Speech-Language-Hearing program," declared Siminoff

Then began the introduction of the graduates. In all, over 800 graduates crossed the Liacouras Stage and were joined by over 200 faculty members. 

After all the names had been read Dean Siminoff officially welcomed the class of 2014 into the Temple University Alumni Association and each graduate was presented with a pin to signify their induction.
