Visionary Research Fund endowment reaches first year goal

In Fall 2011 the College Board of Visitors endorsed a special initiative to create an endowed fund that would provide financial support for students to engage in research with faculty mentors. The long-range goal was to raise $1,000,000 over a four-year period. .

By June 30, 2012, the first year goal for the Visionary Research Fund was reached through the receipt of $100,180 in outright gifts and pledges from the Board membership and CPH faculty and staff. This will enable the College to award a $4,500 research grant this semester.

The year two goal is to raise an additional $150,000, which would bring the endowment total to $250,000 and produce a spendable yield of $11,250 for student research grants.

Thank you to all who have participated in the successful first year effort. We are excited about the continuing effort and welcome all who would like to contribute, or just learn more about the fund.
