Social Work Student Appointed to Violence Prevention Committee

Kimberly Preske, a Master’s of Social Work student at Temple University Harrisburg, has been appointed to the newly-formed Joint State Government Commission's Advisory Committee on Violence Prevention. Developed in light of the tragedy at Sandy Hook and other school shootings in recent years, the committee will perform a comprehensive analysis of violent crime and related issues.

At the end of 2013, it will present to the PA General Assembly its recommendations for statutes and policies related to violent crime and mental health, and strategies for education. The committee consists of approximately two dozen public officials and experts from varying backgrounds, who will contribute diverse viewpoints.
