Rehab Sciences students celebrate International Park(ing) Day

Friday, September 21 was International Park(ing) day, an annual event where ordinary people transform metered parking spots into temporary public spaces.

Students from CPH’s Therapeutic Recreation Program hosted one of Philadelphia’s 59 pop-up parks that day outside of the Dunkin Donuts on Cecil B. Moore Avenue. Under the guidance of Gretchen Snethen, PhD, CTRS, the students engaged passers-by in games to raise awareness for individuals with disabilities.

Some of the games included "amputee jenga" where participants were required to use only their non-dominant hand, and "CVA Bop It", where participants had to wear a patch over one eye and were instructed to not use fine motor in their right hands.
