HIM professor receives PHIMA 2013 Distinguished Member Award

Congratulations to HIM professor Cathy Flite, MEd, RHIA, who received the 2013 Distinguished Member Award from the Pennsylvania Health Information Management Association.

Professor Flite has been active in the Health Information Management field for 27 years, publishing her research and serving for AHIMA, PHIMA, and SePHIMA in addition to her work at the College of Public Health.

“Cathy is recognized as a scholar-practitioner, as evidenced by her publications and presentations,” says Laurinda Harman, PhD, RHIA, FAHIMA, Associate Professor Emeritus at Temple University’s HIM Department. “Since 2003, Cathy has made seven local, seven state, 11 national, and four Assembly on Education presentations.”

Her work has been published in journals and scholarly texts including Perspectives in Health Information Management, American Medical Association Journal of Ethics, Journal of AHIMA, and Ethical Challenges in the Management of Health Information.
