The Center for Social Policy and Community Development (CSPCD) hosts the North Philadelphia Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program as part of its mission to serve as a bridge between the social concerns of the community and the academic and service goals of Temple University.
Families with income less than $50,000 or individuals with income less than $20,000 can benefit from the free tax filing services, and can learn more about financial savings options. Volunteers are needed to help provide administrative support and greet customers, as well as to assist families in completing tax returns and for applying for public benefits. Throughout the month of January, volunteers can receive training to be a part of this tremendous city-wide effort to empower over 11,000 low-income families, and even become an IRS Certified Tax Preparer.
Please note that a higher volume of people in Ritter Annex is expected during the time of the program. We hope you will let us know if our program poses a disturbance to your departmental operations. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Shirley Moy at (215) 204-3424 or firstname.lastname@example.org .
