Thanks to the generosity of the late J. Russell Fawley, since 2007 the Department of Nursing has awarded scholarships to students through the J. Russell Fawley endowment and trust. Applicants to Temple’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs are considered for a J. Russell Fawley Scholarship during the application review process. There is no separate scholarship application.
To be considered for a J. Russell Fawley scholarship, students are required to be permanent residents of Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties in Pennsylvania; be enrolled full-time in one of Temple’s nursing programs; demonstrate high academic achievement; and meet financial need requirements.
The scholarships include tuition and program-related costs such as course fees, books, and uniforms. Room and board is not included. Scholarship renewal automatically occurs every semester following confirmation of required GPA.
Multiple four-year scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen students who plan to enroll in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. This funding is designed to encourage students with a history of high academic achievement to make Temple their first choice for nursing education. Preference is given to those who apply to Temple University by the Early Action deadline.
Scholarships are awarded to students newly entering the full-time post-baccalaureate Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. This funding supports academic success and timely completion of this advanced nursing practice degree. Students wishing to be considered for a J. Russell Fawley scholarship are encouraged to apply for the Doctor of Nursing Practice program early.
