Merit-based Funding

Temple University and the College of Public Health offer a number of merit-based funding opportunities to outstanding graduate applicants. This funding comes in a number of different forms:

  • Teaching or Research Assistantships: A limited number of assistantships are awarded to our incoming PhD program students only. In addition, there are a small number of graduate programs that may consider funding a master’s student in certain circumstances. There is no separate application necessary to be considered for one of these awards; qualified applicants are automatically reviewed.
  • University-Wide Fellowships: Temple University offers a limited number of fellowships to support its most outstanding PhD program applicants. Nominations for fellowships are submitted by the department or program only; self-nomination is not permitted.
  • J. Russell Fawley Scholarships for Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) applicants: Five full scholarships are awarded each year to incoming DNP students. Learn more about Fawley Scholarships.
  • Merit Scholarships: A number of our graduate degree programs award merit-based scholarships to their most competitive applicants. Students are automatically considered for these awards when they are reviewed for admission and will be notified at the time of admission if they’ve received an award.
