Soon-Gook is a PhD candidate in the Department of Kinesiology at Temple University's College of Public Health. He holds a BA in physical education from Korea University and an MS in exercise physiology from Seoul National University. During his time as a master's student, Soon-Gook participated in multiple human research projects focusing on the effects of physical activity on chronic diseases associated with aging and cognitive function in older adults. For his current doctoral training at Temple University, he has moved into the field of integrative exercise physiology by studying cardiovascular biology. His research areas of interest include cardiovascular physiology, endothelial/mitochondrial biology and exercise physiology. The long-term goal of his research is to elucidate the molecular signaling mechanisms by which physical activity improves adverse effects of aging, especially in the blood vessels, and prevents cardiovascular diseases.
