Biography

Lisa A. Ferretti holds an MSW from the University at Albany with a specialization in management and gerontology, including a certificate in nonprofit leadership and management. An Atlantic Philanthropies and John A. Hartford Foundation Practice Change Fellow, she is a licensed Master Social Worker and a national trainer in CDC's National Diabetes Prevention Program and other federally supported evidence-based self-management programs.

At the University at Albany, Ferretti served for more than a decade as co-director of the Center for Excellence in Aging & Community Wellness and research assistant professor in the School of Social Welfare. She also served as executive director of the Quality and Technical Assistance Center—an organization dedicated to building community capacity and the workforce to support the dissemination of self-management programming.

As a joint or co-principal investigator on research, demonstration and evaluation projects focused on aging services and healthy aging, Ferretti has worked with over 175 community-based organizations implementing programs in 1,200 sites and reaching more than 15,000 people supported by federal, state and private funding of nearly $25 million.

She has published 10 articles or book chapters, presented at 17 academic conferences, and has been an invited speaker on more than a dozen occasions in various venues. She is a seasoned developer, facilitator and trainer of self-management interventions and curricula and has taught BSW and MSW courses in generalist macro practice and clinical practice with aging adults.
