Jeffrey S. Gehris, PhD is an associate professor in the Department of Kinesiology. He serves as the interim department chair and program director for the B.S. in Kinesiology degree, a program in which he also instructs courses related to physical activity and public health. Dr. Gehris's research interests focus on the role of movement experiences in early childhood development and education. He has published research on the topic of young children's movement and learning based on his work with Head Start teachers, and has developed courses on this topic for undergraduate and graduate students as well as working professionals in the field of early childhood care and education. His professional service has included serving as Chairperson of the Early Childhood Advisory Group of the Society of Health and Physical Educators.
