CHPSW 2014 Graduation

On Thursday, May 15, 2014 Temple University's College of Public Health officially celebrated the graduation of the class of 2014. Over 5,000 guests filled the Liacouras Center to celebrate the near 1,500 graduates of the College.

CHPSW Awards Luncheon 2014

This past Wednesday, May 14, 2014, the College of Public Health hosted their annual awards luncheon. During the luncheon, students throughout the school were recognized for their hard work and dedication to the school and their academics. Congratulations to all of the winners!

Graduating Therapeutic Recreation senior quoted by the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Stefanie Lechner, a student of the College of Public Health's Therapeutic Recreation program was recently quoted in the headline story of the Philadelphia Inquirer. When asked about the economy and the current unemployment rate Lechner was quoted stating, "It doesn't frighten me". Of her three best friends, two have jobs in their fields and the third will be attending graduate school after graduation.

CHPSW reaches 100% of goal in Graduation Challenge

We did it! With your help we have reached more than 100% of our goal of $3,000 in the inaugural CPH Graduation Challenge! We’d like to thank all of those who donated and helped us to reach this milestone – faculty, staff, donors, and, most importantly, our students. This achievement is a testament to the dedication of the 2014 CPH graduating class and their commitment to the College. It has also provided a wonderful opportunity for all of CPH to join together and support this worthy cause.

Congressman Thompson will serve as CPH's 2014 Graduation speaker

Temple University’s College of Public Health  welcomes U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson, 5th District, Pennsylvania as the speaker for the College's 47th Graduation Ceremony on May 15, 2014.

A life-long resident of Howard Township, Centre County, Pa., Congressman Thompson was first elected to represent Pennsylvania’s Fifth District in the U.S. House of Representatives on November 4, 2008 and sworn in to his third term on January 3, 2013.

Physical Therapy Professor Awarded Grant to Study Traumatic Brain Injury

Geoff Wright, PhD Physical Therapy Professor Awarded Grant to Study Traumatic Brain Injury

A $1.2 million grant from the Department of Defense was awarded to Geoff Wright, PhD (PI), together with colleagues Carole Tucker, PT, PhD and Emily Keshner, PT, EdD, the College of Public Health’s Department of Physical Therapy, and Ryan Tierney PhD, ATC from the Department of Kinesiology. This study will investigate chronic symptoms of traumatic brain injury (TBI) using an innovative new virtual reality-based balance assessment device they designed. Young athletes who have suffered a recent head injury will be tested for symptoms of mild TBI using the newly designed device.
