Kristen Faughnan, a student in Temple’s Master of Science in Health Informatics program, was awarded a scholarship from the Pennsylvania Health Information Management Association for academic achievement and commitment to the field of Health Information Management.
Kristen is a part-time graduate student at the College of Public Health and a full-time employee at Nextgen Healthcare Information Systems, where she has been working to implement a company-wide quality management system.
A self-described “data junkie” and a health informatics pioneer, she has been working with Electronic Health Record technology for over ten years. In her job as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer, she developed a web-based dashboard that allows users to monitor program performance and to determine product quality and release readiness.
“Kristen is creative, highly intelligent, and shows tremendous initiative,” writes one of her project directors. “She is a problem-solver and uses her strong interest in learning new techniques and methodologies to come up with innovative solutions.”
Kristen also received the 2013 HIM Department Merit Scholarship.
